On February 28, 2006 Rebbecca Tindall was shopping at the Ginger Root
Health Store and found out that the previous owner was going to close the
store that April. Her immediate reaction was "No, you can't close!" The
owner's response was to encourage Rebbecca to buy it and that very day
she began working to save the store. "I didn't want the store to close
because the community needs it," Rebbecca said. She also had a personal
interest in health food. "I was already pursing becoming a dietitian, and it
seemed like a good place to work and learn."
So on April 1 instead of the store closing, it stayed open under Rebbecca's
management. Since taking over the store, she has substantially increased
the products and services offered. Ginger Root Health Food Store hosts a
variety of supplements both herbal and mineral from companies including
Live Right For Your Type, Solgar and NOW. The shelves contain
environmentally friendly cleaning products and natural cosmetics from
companies including Burt's Bees, Jason and Dr. Bronner's. Ginger Root
offers a collection of refreshing drinks, healthy snacks, dried fruit, cereals,
soups, breads, frozen foods and more.
